The Pace 1.0 App and New Funding

Today we’re excited to announce two things:

At Pace, our mission is to unlock emotional connection together. We do that by matching small groups of people who’d never meet, to talk about the things they can never share.

For thousands of members since our January beta, *together* has meant in their Pace Group - meeting people they never would have met, talking about things they wouldn’t share anywhere else, and most importantly learning about themselves.

Starting today, *together* also means the entire Pace community.

Every week we hear incredible stories about Pace members feeling connected and discovering personal insights and change in 100’s of groups on Pace. It is the *best* perk of our jobs at Pace. I often find myself thinking: “I wish everyone on Pace could hear a little bit about that group.”

We’re bringing that idea to life with Pace 1.0. Three main things are in the app:

1. Your Profile - the most honest version of you on the internet.

Because we’re all going through something. Mine says: ‘Imposter Syndrome’, ‘Entrepreneur’, ‘Work-life Balance’, ‘Parenting Challenges’, ‘Mortality’, ‘Married’, ‘Mid-life Crisis’, ‘Anxiety’. You know: all the shit that’s not listed on my perfectly-polished IG life. Your profile’s also where you’ll find takeaways you’ve saved (see below) and badges you’ve earned from your group.

A word on anonymity: sharing your real self is more important to us than everyone knowing precisely who you are, so you can hide your last name on your profile - your call.

2. Pace Home - learn from every group on Pace.

We’re fortunate to hear the amazing people and conversations that happen on Pace every day. Now you can too. Take a peek at what groups are talking about all over Pace via the facilitator’s published Takeaways. See the groups, members, and facilitators that are in-group today. Maybe you’ll find the next group or facilitator for a friend, or even for yourself.

3. The Place for Personal Insight - keep the key takeaways from every session.

Every week, one part of the Pace Facilitator job is to help groups sum up the week and find the key insights. Starting today, save any Takeaway from a Pace Group, including the most personally profound nuggets from your own group and the insights you found from others. Keep them as a reminder to yourself in your profile.

We know reaching everyone who’d benefit from Pace so will take a lot of time and effort, and so we’re happy to welcome two actual members, Jess and Jordan, as investors in Pace. Sequoia Capital and Pace Capital couldn’t be more different in some ways - for instance one is decades old and the other is just getting started. But as individual investors, Jess and Jordan share a special and genuine interest in helping people find themselves through the power real human connection and the internet. And that’s what we’re doing at Pace.

We’re excited to have the space to continue to work on Pace, and even more excited to be working with both of them. You can read what they think about Pace on their own blogs here and here

See you in group!
